Somalia National Bureau of Statistics attained major statistical milestones via the Somali Integrated Statistics & Economic Capacity Building Project.
District-Level Poverty Estimates: Precision Targeting for Poverty Reduction
For the first time in Somalia’s history, official district-level poverty data is now available using the Small Area Estimation (SAE) methodology. This data helps identify high-poverty areas, analyze poverty drivers, and improve policy targeting for equitable development.
Phase II of Somalia Statistics Project: Scaling Up National Data Systems
Building on Phase I achievements, Phase II focuses on expanding surveys (SIHBS Round II, Agricultural Census, MICS), launching Somalia’s first e-M&E platform (e-NIMIS) and strengthening institutional coordination and data accessibility.
Harmonized National CPI: A New Inflation Tracking Era
Somalia has released its first quarterly harmonized National Consumer Price Index aligned with COICOP 2018 standards, enabling nationwide inflation tracking to guide fiscal and social policies effectively.
“With the launch of these important statistical publications, we bring Somalia’s development into sharper focus — one district, one family, one future at a time.”
The event received nationwide coverage with stakeholders emphasizing timely data dissemination, capacity building, and translating reports into Somali for wider access.
