High-Level Stakeholder Engagement between SNBS and Federal Member States on SISEPCB Project

Mogadishu, Wednesday, February 4, 2026. Somalia National Bureau of Statistics convened a high-level stakeholder engagement in Mogadishu for Federal Member States Ministries of Planning, under the auspices of Somali Integrated Statistics & Economic Planning Capacity Building Project (SISEPCB).

Opening the meeting, SNBS Director General, Dr. Abdisalam Mohamed warmly welcomed participants and commended the strong spirit of cooperation that continues to underpin Somalia’s national statistical system. In his opening remarks, Dr. Abdisalam delivered a comprehensive overview of SNBS activities, highlighting progress achieved in strengthening national statistical system, as well as ongoing and upcoming statistical surveys and key initiatives aimed at closing critical data gaps and improving availability of timely and reliable official statistics.

The engagement also featured a presentation by SISEPCB Project Coordinator , Mr. Mohamed Abdinur, who provided participants with a general update about project activities, implementation progress and key milestones attained thus far

The meeting further reviewed key agenda items under SISEPCB Project, including modernization of National Consumer Price Index, advancements in national surveys and ongoing upgrades to statistical ICT infrastructure. Updates highlighted notable achievements to date, as well as ongoing and planned activities critical to strengthening evidence-based planning across the country.

During the discussions, FMS Ministers and Directors General of Planning acknowledged the tremendous work of SNBS leadership and technical personnel in advancing the production of quality, credible and timely statistics. The dialogue also underscored importance of coordinated implementation to ensure harmonized and comparable data nationwide

SNBS reiterated its commitment to further deepening collaboration with Federal Member States and partners in pursuit of the common national good—delivering high-quality statistics that inform prudent public policy, support national development priorities and strengthen governance in Somalia.
